R+P Post 18: Our test shoot

We have decided that a test shoot is a good idea, in order to have a run through of the shots we are planning on taking, and so we can put together a rough cut to see if the sequence works. A test shoot is also a way of Shayam practicing the role, to see if she fits with the character we have in mind, but also enables us to see how long the shoot will take and how many shots we need and how long each one will take to shoot.

For our shoot, we have already planned a shootboard as shown in post 13. This helps to guide us on what we need in every shot, what angles and framing we need, but also gives us timings to try and stick to, in order to stay on schedule.

A big problem we need to test is the lighting, as we want it to be a warm colour in the bedroom where she is getting ready, but we don't want it too bright that her skin looks too bright.

Overall, there weren't many changes we needed to make to the procedure of our filming, it was mainly down to looking at all our shots to see if they all worked. At this point we didn't have many problems as we kept to time and got everything done rather efficiently.

Here are some clips from our test shoot, showing a couple of shots that we struggled with!
