Evaluation Post 5: How did you attract/address your audience?

We attracted our audience using the Uses & Gratifications Theory.

Another factor which we took into account for attracting our audience, was the build up of enigma:

Lastly, we thought that a main way in which we would attract our audience, is by following the conventions of the genre, as mentioned in post 1.
By following these conventions, fans of film noir are more likely to recognise Unlawful as a part of the same genre, and are more likely to want to watch the film.

Audience Response:

We created an online survey to try and gather some feedback from the general public, about their thoughts on our opening.

Out of the 14 people who took the survey, who were of the genders shown above, about 90% were in the age category of 16-25 and 10% in the 50+ category.

We asked the public whether they would watch the whole film, and we came up with these results:
Whilst the majority of people say yes, only one said no because they found it 'boring'.

These statistics show that we were right in targeting a younger audience because a majority of them said they would watch on to find out what was going to happen. In our survey, we asked the audience the following:

From these results we can see that the majority did understand the simple storyline surrounding out opening, however one of the main criticisms was that the storyline was slightly confusing.

Conclusion:
From our survey feedback, I think it is clear that we attracted our audience well in order to get the reviews we did. However, I think that from looking at the criticisms given, if we had more time to re shoot, I would ensure that the audience can see that Stacey is a corrupt cop, rather than just a girl out to kill.
